[Sapporo City] “GX Decarbonization Area” Open at 2026 Sapporo Snow Festival Odori Venue
A “GX Decarbonization Area” has been established on the east side of the Odori 3-chome site at the 2026 Sapporo Snow Festival, which kicked off on Wednesday, February 4, 2026.
This area is designed around the concept of eco-friendly venue operations with zero CO2 emissions, utilizing hydrogen energy for heating and lighting.

Hydrogen-Powered Illumination
Illumination lit up using power supplied by Fuel Cell Vehicles (FCVs).
Lights up daily from 17:00 to 22:00 during the event.
Free Photo Spot
A special photo spot illuminated by power from FCVs.

Hydrogen Torch
Demonstration of a hydrogen torch flame at the Free Photo Spot on weekends and holidays.
The torch will be lit for three days: Saturday the 7th, Sunday the 8th, and Wednesday (holiday) the 11th, from 17:00 to 20:00 each day. (Note: Schedule is subject to change or cancellation due to strong winds or other weather conditions.)
Free Rest Area (GX Exhibition Booth)
Equipped with hydrogen stoves, panel heaters powered by hydrogen water heaters, and hydrogen generators.
Panel displays regarding GX initiatives.
All electricity used in this area, including lighting, is supplied by FCVs.
